The two most popular types of netipractises are jalaneti and sutra neti. Jala neti is the practise of cleansing the nasal passages with a tiny pot called a “Neti pot,” which is filled with slightly warm saline water and has a long spout on one side. The spout is then inserted into the left nostril. The individual practising it bends his head to the right side and lets water enter his nasal cavity through his left nostril before releasing it through his right nose. The salty water is added to the pot once again. By inserting the spout in the right nostril and then angling the head to the left, this process is repeated. The sinus chambers and the nose are cleaned during this operation.
Kriya
Shat Kriyas are meant to strengthen and maintain the health of the human body. They are often referred to as the six purifying procedures in Hatha Yoga.
- “Shat” denotes six.
- The term “kriya” denotes a methodology or a method.
Shat kriyas are thought of as the foundational exercises for more complex forms of asana, pranayama, and meditation. The ancient Rishis recognised the need of a healthy body for all activities, whether they be worldly or spiritual. According to the scripture “Hatha Yoga Pradeepika,” the primary goal of Hatha Yoga is to prepare the body and mind for higher forms of Raja Yoga.
Neti
Due to this, sinusitis, allergies, migraines, and minor headaches are all relieved. Sutra Neti is the practise of doing Neti while using a rubber catheter (sutra). In this procedure, the catheter is inserted into one nostril before being removed from the mouth through the throat. The catheter tube is gently moved back and forth to clear the nose canal. The opposite nostril receives the same treatment. Thus, both Neti techniques have the effect of soothing the nasal membranes, alleviating rhinitis, allergies, and other conditions. Additionally, nasal passageway nerves in the upper channel are stimulated by neti. As a pre-pranayama exercise, neti kriya is performed.
The kapalbhati must be performed after the neti kriya. The goal is to remove all traces of saline water from the nasal cavities.
